Famous First
Line: “This is the saddest story I have ever heard.” This famous first line
came from the novel The Good Soldier. This novel was written in 1915 by Ford
Madox Ford. Ford Madox Ford was an English author who wrote poems and novels.
The Good Soldier is a story that takes place right before World War 1. The
novel takes place by using flashbacks and it is said that a lot of what goes on
in the book is based off of what Ford had happen in his life.
Famous Last Line: “Don’t ever tell anybody anything. If
you do, you start missing everybody.”
This is from the well known novel published in 1951,
written by J.D. Salinger. The novel relates well to teens apparently, although I
actually have not read this novel. The story is narrated by a teen boy basically talking about what he does and how his life is going.
Do either of these appeal to you? I really liked Catcher in the Rye. The main character reminded me so much of my best male friend from high school.
